Is garnet sand water cutting effective?
garnet sand plays an increasingly important role in waterjet cutting, which makes the cutting field of waterjet more and more extensive, from natural materials to artificial materials, from metal materials to non-metallic materials, from food to daily necessities and other materials in almost every field. All can be cut with a waterjet. It can be said that garnet sand has promoted the development of the water cutting industry.
If it is pure waterjet cutting without adding garnet sand, it will be difficult to meet the cutting requirements in terms of cutting accuracy and cutting strength, which fully proves the importance of garnet sand. Adding garnet sand to water cutting not only smoothes the cutting surface, but also improves accuracy, and can basically cut items of any medium.
If the water jet is equipped with 60# garnet sand as an abrasive, it can be used for cutting stone, rubber, wood, etc., and the cutting speed will also be significantly improved, but the accuracy of the cutting surface may be reduced. The most commonly used 80# garnet sand can achieve the best balance between cutting speed and cutting surface accuracy, and is used for cutting carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium and other materials.
In contrast, 120# garnet sand can meet the requirements of high precision and low cutting surface tolerance, and is suitable for cutting glass, semiconductor and other materials. It seems that waterjet cutting abrasives, as consumables used in most waterjet cutting, have a positive effect on improving cutting quality.
