Almandine Garnet Sand for Ship Hull Sa2.5 Blasting
Processed from natural almandine garnet ore, it has sharp angular grains with Mohs hardness 7.5–8 for efficient rust and old coating removal. It contains very low free silica, far safer than silica sand with less dust and better visibility. Water-washed and desalted garnet keeps surface soluble salt within limits of NORSOK and IMO marine standards, preventing coating blistering and premature paint failure caused by salt contamination.
It creates consistent, controllable anchor profile to ensure good adhesion of marine epoxy coatings. Garnet grit can be recycled 3–5 times for cost-effective blasting.
Common grit sizes: 30#, 36#, 60#, 80#
- 30# / 36#: For heavy rust and thick aged coating removal
- 60# / 80#: General-purpose grade for standard Sa2.5 hull blasting with fine uniform profile
Standard: ISO 8501-1 Sa2.5 (Near-white blast cleaning)
