What is the Mohs hardness of almandine garnet?

Almandine Garnet (Rock Garnet)

Mohs Hardness: 7.5–8.0

Almandine garnet is natural silicate mineral abrasive. Grains are sub-angular with good self-sharpening property. True density: 3.9~4.2 g/cm³, melting point 1250~1320℃.

Key features:

  • Free silica<1%, safe operation, low dust, no silicosis hazard;
  • Low chloride ≤25 ppm, ideal for ship & offshore blasting, meets PSPC;
  • Good toughness, reusable for 3–5 blasting cycles, low consumption;
  • Acid & alkali resistance. It easily achieves Sa2.5 / Sa3 surface standard.
  • Available mesh: 20/40,30/60 for sandblasting; 80# for waterjet cutting.

Applications: Steel structure & ship sandblasting, offshore surface preparation, waterjet cutting for metal, stone, glass & composite materials, precision polishing, filter media.
